[photo taken by me. you better believe it. how are my food styling skills coming along?]
the best thing since grilled cheese sandwiches…
is a grilled cheese sandwich made on sourdough bread.
with pepperjack cheese.
avocado.
bacon.
and apple slices.
yes, apple slices.
i am obsessed.

That picture does look pretty amazing. So does that sandwhich. I might have to make a run to the grocery store.
Yum! I am so going to try this over the weekend…
Very nice! Looks delicious!
Gonna have to try this, it looks SOOOOOOO good!
You can blog, but you can’t email your mom!
Ok, I tried it! And, I seriously thought I died and went to heaven. That. Is. The. BEST! Thanks for the recipe!
This looks awesome! I think a grilled cheese is simply the best thing in the world!
Now this is my kind of grilled cheese!!! Beautiful photo!!
Gorgeous photo, and great idea for a revamped grilled cheese sandwich!
This is a BEAUTIFUL photo! Way to go!
My favorite grilled cheese fillings have always been guacamole and pepperjack, but the addition of bacon and apple sounds amazing!
Apple slices? That might be a bit weird for me but I definitely like the combination of pepperjack and avocado!
cookie – i know the apples seem a little bit odd, and maybe it isn’t for everyone, but you have to just try it! it may just be me, but for some reason the sweetness and texture just complement everything else perfectly.
ps. if you try it, you’ll have to let me know what you think!

Oh my gosh this sounds so good. I love reinvented grilled cheese sandwiches
Ohh my! This looks sooooo delicious! Love this combo of flavours!
New to your blog; happy I found you!
I LOVE grilled cheese with apple. Now… Im vegan, but I just use vegan cheese and gluten free bread. SO good. Im a big fan of the apple, cheese, carmalized onion combo as welll. But avocado and bacon (veggie bacon for me!) sounds out of this world. Thanks for the idea!!
Sourdough + cheese + avocados = heaven! Your picture looks so delish–I have some ripe avocados sitting in my fridge right now and you just gave me an idea what to do with them!
Ah, looks so good! I’m such a sucker for avocado. I mentioned this sandwich on my own blog with a credit and link back to yours! xx

…so I re-pinned this picture onto my pinterest because it looked so yummy! And TODAY was the day I decided to make it! From the moment I got to work, I’ve started all my conversations off with “Let me tell you about my grilled cheese.” And everyone is riveted! (seriously, people’s eyes lit up when I told them the ingredients) One of my co-workers even came down to see it at lunchtime. I have to admit, mine didn’t come out as beautiful as yours, but it was amazingly delicious! So thank you for the idea! I think you should re-invent all food. And I will be waiting to see what you come up with next!

Okay I tried it and I love it! As a matter of fact I linked your blog so that others can try it too! See here: http://inspirationsbyd.blogspot.com/2011/06/grilled-cheese-reinvented.html
I have a toddler, so two questions: if pepper jack is too spicy can you recommend another cheese, and what type of apple did you use?
I came across your recipe on Pinterest and I just had to make this sandwich! I changed it up a bit with my own little pieces, and it was great! Thanks for the inspiration :)

Since I loved all the ingredients called for in the recipe, I decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised by the results! As another poster mentioned the apples do seem a bit odd when put together with avocados and cheese, but if you like apples, go for it, you will see that it really is a good combination!
